Tamanu dressed up in pink for Mother's day to welcome virtually 50 adults and 30 children to celebrate their very special mothers. Everyone loved the food with the ravioli, lamb rack and duck sold out before day's end. With the children happily occupied with crayons and colouring books and supervised by Tamanu's housekeeping staff, mums and dads could wine and dine relaxed. Compliments to the outstanding staff were profuse with the last guests leaving well into the evening. Another successful family day at Tamanu.
Lovers were spoilt at Tamanu on Valentine's Day with an Aphrodisiac Degustation Dinner and a night of romance. The restaurant was dressed in chic black & white and the French champagne. With lavish settings and service, the 25 couples attending were entertained by the lyrical tones of Gaelle and Ben of Groovy Banana.
At Tamanu the Australia Day spirit flourished on a beautiful day in the tropics. The Aussie flag was proudly flown from wherever there was a place available. Families gathered for a traditional Aussie BBQ with a sausage sizzle, make-your-own hamburgers, salads and fish & chips cones all topped off with a great Aussie favourite of lamingtons. The kids competed in egg & spoon, three-legged and sack races do by day's end all left smiling and exhausted. Another great family day at Tamanu!
Christmas Day at Tamanu was another success with over 50 guests enjoying the tropical weather and festive atmosphere. With appearances from very own Ni-Vanuatu Santa, the local church children's choir singing carols and a lavish traditional Christmas Day buffet, everybody had a great time. People swam in the ocean pool, lounged and played on the beach and generally made the most of the day. The last guests left at 6.30pm proving yet again, Tamanu can turn it on at Christmas.
Groovin' on a Sunday Afternoon
On a balmy magical day last Sunday, over one hundred adults and children gathered at Tamanu to groove the afternoon away. Groovy Banana duo, Gaelle and Ben provided the coolest entertainment which had everyone singing and dancing, even the children. The Beach Buffet was a hit as were the special vodka granitas and affogato specials. A super day was had by all and the last revellers left on sunset.
Presenting Roy (Stewart) Ryan
Presenting Roy (Stewart) Ryan was a smash at Tamanu! Local lad Stewart Ryan performed his one man show to an audience of over 60 happy diners knocking them out with his great voice and versatile style. One guest commented, "Another great evening, too much wine, fabulous food, great service and great entertainment!!!! Well done." Whilst another said, "Virginia, Saturday was great and I think the best one yet. Congratulations to you and your team for a fantastic night."
Great Popstars – Then & Now
Greg Aspeling wowed audiences once again at Tamanu on the 23rd and 24th August with his latest show, Great Popstars – Then & Now. Featuring songs from Paul Anka and Michael Buble, Greg's silky tones and smooth style delighted everyone. Glowing comments about the 'best food in Vanuatu', outstanding service and 'the best night we've had in years', added to the evening's success. By night's end, people were up dancing under the stars and taking home great memories. Thanks Greg for more fabulous performances.
Another Greek Easter was celebrated by over 70 people at Tamanu on Sunday 5 May 2013. Owner, Yianni Demetre cooked the lamb on the spit from early morning. The fabulous Greek food was consumed happily by all the diners whilst the kids enjoyed the Greek Easter egg hunt. A wonderful day was had by all.

Christmas Day at Tamanu was a huge event with 90 local and international guests feasting on Tamanu's Traditional Christmas Buffet complete with all the trimmings. The local church children's choir sang Christmas songs and carols making the whole day truly festive and unforgettable.
The Bublé Experience
Greg Aspeling wowed audiences at Tamanu with his sensational Bublé Experience. Greg was the consummate performer entertaining everyone with his smooth style, terrific voice and warm, easy manner. He gave the audience exactly what they expected and then more! Great classic songs and Bublé's contemporary hits enthralled everyone throughout the evening. Even without his usual big band, the show was a huge hit. Greg Aspeling was the perfect end to Tamanu's Special Events Calendar for 2012.
I Sing Like I Feel Encore
Tamanu Resort Manager wowed them again when she performed her encore performances of I Sing Like I Feel. There were many in the audience who had seen Rachael's first shows and returned for more as well as others who were entertained by Rachael for the first time..." a gorgeous voice and show once again," "lived up to everything (way and beyond)," "wow what a voice!"
Hot August Night
Peter Lambert entertained a full house at Tamanu in his Hot August Night Tribute. The greatest hits of legendary songwriter and singer, Neil Diamond had the audience singing along to their favourites as Peter sang and played guitar throughout the evening. Lots of memories flooded back, lots of good times were relived and a good night was enjoyed by all.
Jessica Mauboy at Tamanu
Tamanu owner Diane Demetre secured international singing sensation Jessica Mauboy to perform at the Kiwanis Race Week festivities in Vanuatu. This pint-sized superstar wowed her audiences with her great voice, unstoppable energy and gracious beauty. On Sunday, Jessica joined about 80 guests at Tamanu for the Kiwanis Recovery Party and Beach Feast where she happily signed autographs, posed for photos and thoroughly enjoyed the magical ambience of the resort. Everyone who met Jessica has a memory to last a lifetime.
A Tribute to Tom Jones
The panties were flying thick and fast on the balmy South Pacific breeze when international artist Joe Guidace performed his Tribute to Tom Jones at Tamanu for the Mother's Day weekend. A sensational three course dinner was enjoyed by all the guests as 'Tom' gyrated and swivelled his hips to such great favourites including It's Not Unusual, What's New Pussycat, She's a Lady, Thunder Ball, Love me Tonight, Green Grass of Home, Leave Your Hat On, Sex Bomb, Kiss and many more… Joe was hot!
The ladies grabbed the opportunity (and at times even Joe was under threat) when they took to the stage to perform with Sir Tom Jones. What's new pussycat took on a whole new meaning. Cheers to those fun loving Port Vila ladies!
Tamanu Owners, Diane & Yianni Demetre brought their Greek ancestry and fabulous Greek cuisine to Tamanu on Orthodox Greek Easter Sunday. The day started with the traditional cracking of the Easter eggs and an Easter egg hunt for the children. Turning Tamanu into a Greek Taverna a Greek Easter Buffet of Lamb on the Spit, delicious authentic Pita Bread made in the Tamanu kitchen, Greek Dips & Salads, Moussaka, Souvlaki, Oregano Lemon Chicken, Greek Style Whole Fish; followed by authentic Greek desserts of Baklava, Galaktoboureko and Greek Koulourakia (Greek Easter Biscuits) washed down with buckets of ouzo had the 100 guests reeling with delight. Greek music and dancing continued until late in the afternoon. The Greeks certainly know how to party!
I Sing Like I Feel
More is indeed what the audiences received when Rachael Whitelaw took to the Tamanu stage to perform 3 sold-out performances of her one woman show, I Sing Like I Feel. Featuring songs from such great musicals as Chicago, Cabaret & Crazy for You and from such sensational artists as Ella Fitzgerald, Dusty Springfield, Peggy Lee and more...Rachael was a knock-out!
Port Vila was abuzz for weeks after with those who were too slow to purchase tickets, realising they had missed a rare opportunity.
Songs in My Head
Stewart Ryan's performed his first one man show to 2 sell-out crowds at Tamanu on the Beach. The Dinner Cabaret was the first of many for Tamanu and showcased the exceptional talents of local young man Stewart Ryan. Stewart's personable style and great voice were captivating. During his second performance Resort Manager, Rachael Whitelaw joined Stewart for an encore much to the delight and surprise of the audience. Who knew she could sing too? Those who attended were all of the one opinion…we want more.
Following these successful shows Stewart left to follow his dream in the UK. He has since secured a contract to perform and is signing his heart out in sunny Spain.
